Acquired for our clients a large site of approximately three acres known as Langley Maltings which is located in Oldbury West Midlands. The building is Victorian grade 11 listed and sits alongside the Titford Canal from which deliveries were accessed in the early years. Latterly the mode of transport for grain delivery was the local railway.
Langley Maltings was built to replace Showells Maltings which was unfortunately destroyed by fire in 1897. Showells sold the maltings to Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries in 1944. The traditional method of floor malting ceased and in 2007 Langley Maltings was sold.
The canal side position would make an ideal luxury waterfront/marina development subject to the necessary planning permissions.
